Matar Paneer


Paneer 500 gms
Onion 4 big (mixer grinded with 4 black pepper corns, 4 green cardamom, half inch cinnamon stick, two black cloves)
Green peas 250 gms
Tomato 2 big (pureed)
Garlic: 15 cloves (grinded)
Ginger: half inch (chopped finely)
Jeera 1 spoon
Coriander powder: 1.5 tsp
Garam masala half tsp
Asafoetida 1 pinch
Turmeric powder half tsp
Red chilli powder: 1 tsp
Cashews 10 (soaked and grinded)
Green chillis 5 pieces


In a cooker take 5 tbsp oil, add the jeera and let it splatter, add asafoetida wait for few seconds and then add onions.
Saute onion till brown and cooked well, now add tomatoes. Along with tomatoes immediately add the salt and cook for 5 mins. (Add ghee if required to fry the paste well) now add the ground spices to the paste i.e. coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala , haldi and the slit green chillies
Saute for 5 mins more to cook the masala
Now add peas and cashew paste to the cooker and mix well
Put on the lid of the cooker with whistle on for 5 mins on very low flame
Remove the whistle and release the pressure, open the cooker toss the paste and repeat the same for 3 mins more.
Now add amul fresh cream (optional) 2 tbsp to the curry mix well. Add water to maintain required consistency. Add paneer and bring to boil
U can add kasuri methi leaves now (1 tsp, optional) for added flavor
